I Hope Life Isn't a Big Joke, Because I don't Get It
I moved from Texas to Missouri a little over a year ago and this is a place that all of my friends and family can keep up with my randomness that is my life.

hello in there!
I just wanted to send a quick update on life :)
Things have been going wonderfully as always haha... with a few exceptions. Thanksgiving was awesome!!! My parents came and my sister too. I was excited for them to finally see where I live and to see a new city. We cooked a giant Thanksgiving meal with all of the ladies and Nolan in the kitchen. Dad was in his usual place in front of the tv. The food was AWESOME and all from scratch! December has been trying to push us around a little but we're not taking no stuff from it! My car started acting funny recently and so we found that it was leaking transmission fluid and we notice too that I'm an idiot! It has had several recalls on it and I'd slacked and not taken it in on any of them... oops. So THANKFULLY the issue I was having was due to the recall and we didn't have to pay a dime to get it fixed! And then a few months back Nolan's key broke off in the ignition of his car which then caused the battery to die and so it sat for a few months with us being the lazy people we are. So when we knew my car needed to go in to the dr. we got his up and running with a new ignition (and finally a spare key), a new battery and some other little part that it needed. It ran for a solid 12 hours before it crapped out again. He still couldn't really figure out what was wrong with it but after some jiggling and banging and yelling at it, it shaped up and is back to good... well as good as good can be for now. Other than that life is good! Here are a few things to list what's been going on with us/them and you.
1. HillBenders signed a national booking agent! Class Act Entertainment and Mike Drudge (one of the best in the biz) took on the fellas after being highly impressed with them in Nashville back in October.
2. We're coming home for Christmas!!! We hope to hit up Corpus, Dallas and of course the beloved Granbury. Estimated dates are Dec 19-29.
3. I bought Nolan an awesome Christmas present... but don't want to spoil that one here. stay tuned....
4. We went and saw Santa last night at Bass Pro! It was fun and I still felt the same nervous anxiety I did as a child going to see him. You can even tell in the picture.. I'll post it later.
5. We locked (mostly me) ourselves out of the house recently and had no other option at 3 am on a Saturday night but to break in. So Nolan broke the front window of our home. It was hilarious!!! I have put the video in the next posting.
6. Today is my sisters 35th birthday... weird. It's hard to imagine what 35 feels like.. although it's not too far in my future. Hell it's hard to even know what 30 will feel like. That one is a little closer at least.
7. There have been some unfortunate events lately surrounding my family.. so please keep everyone in your thoughts! thank you in advance :)
I can't think of much right now. I'm at work.. obviously, and am distracted. Tonight is our work Christmas party and it is going to be a murder mystery thing. I'm kind of excited about that!
Well I hope yall are all having lovely days! And I hope you all have an amazing holiday season!!! Can't believe 2011 is only 21 days away. Time sure flies!
Love you and Merry Christmas!!!!!
I hope your days are filled with red and green and tinsel and Santa and happiness but mostly love!

yo yo yo
I just wanted to come and chat for a second. I wanted to send a great BIG THANK YOU to my girls back home for the best Labor day weekend ever!!! I had such a great time with yall and getting to catch up and have fun. Sometimes it seems like I never left and then sometimes it seems like lots has changed. It was not only so good to see the girls but to see their kiddos! Being up here in Missouri, I only have one friend that has a little boy who is 6. So I don't get my kid time in like I used to! It was so cool to meet Mailey James and to also see all the new pregger girls! I still have a hard time believing they are pregnant when I don't get to see them haha. I also was able to make a few other stops to see some other friends and I am so thankful for that as well. Raesha and Beau also just had had their sweet baby girl, Brailey. She is so precious and tiny. I have a little fear of "fresh out of the womb" babies but she was just perfect. Raesha and I have always been on the same boat of not wanting kids but of course her plan changed when she and Beau got married. I couldn't imagine her not as a mom now. It definitely fits her well. They will be awesome parents.
I'm so excited also to see Chelsea with her little Finley when she comes after the first of the year. and Faith with her new boy/girl. First time mom's are the most intriguing to me... I think because it's all in the world of the unknown. Out of all of the girls.. it seems like Shanna may be the only one who doesn't stay with the norm and has boys. Lissa with 3 girls now, Chels with a girl on it's way and Anna with soon to be 3 girls! Crazy. Faith, maybe a boy is what you need to have to help balance out all of that estrogen.
While I was at home I also got to see my parents for a few hours. That was a special treat since we got in so late and they were set to leave pretty early the next morning. I'm glad they made the exception in their plans to come see me at Shanna's house. Can't believe it'd been since Christmas last year since I'd last seen them.
Now.. onto the present time.
FALL IS HERE!!! I'm so excited. Fall in the Midwest or wherever I am ( I think Missouri is confused) is absolutely stunning! The leaves are already starting to fall but I'm most excited for the change in colors!! However I dread that fall leads to winter... bitter, freezing, snowy, icy cold. Bleh. This year we've decided to have a Halloween party. I'm so excited!! I think Halloween is one of my favorite holidays ever. I think it's because ever since I can remember, halloween has always been a big event. My mom always made the coolest costumes for us and we always went all out. Not much has changed about me now. I wish I could run home (to my parents house) real quick and get all of those halloween decorations though. They just don't make em like they used to! We did buy a tin pumpkin with a spooky house in front to hang on the porch last night. I guess I have to start my own decoration collection. I bet Nolan is thrilled.
The HillBenders update-- the guys are still just as busy as ever! They leave again for a week long trip tomorrow, when I feel like I just got him back. This week they go to Georgia and happily this is only a handful of hours from where my parents are in SC so they are making the trip to see FINALLY see the guys play in person. I know they are so excited!! After GA, the boys head to Nashville for a week. Next week is IBMA (International Bluegrass bla bla bla Association). This is the place last year where they turned lots of heads and got some much earned and needed attention. We are all hoping this year is even more fruitful. Especially since this year they have that handy dandy album finished to take and give to everyone. They also have a video they did and are giving it out. Fingers crossed! They already have 2 appointments set up with record labels for when they are out there.
Ok well I am at work of course so I better get back to business.
Happy Fall and happy Thursday! Love and miss each and every one of you!!

here i am again
i keep forgetting to keep everyone up to date on my life. so I'm going to be lame and do that list of things again like last time....
1. i have an exercise bike on my front porch and have for weeks... i think it's funny. the neighbors probably don't.
2. i also have a fridge sitting in the middle of my kitchen not working. it's like the worlds tallest island haha. no we got a new one from my office and the other one still works so we are being lazy and need to get it sold. weekend goal maybe?
3. our garden that i boasted about before.. not doing so swell. with this being one of the hottest summers in history, it's been hard to keep all of the veggies happy. we have been getting a handful or two of tomatoes which is nice.
4. we went to one of the coolest weddings ever last weekend!
5. my birthday was awesome! my sister came for a visit. Nolan sent me 2 dozen roses and got me a picture printer. exactly what i never knew i needed!! such a sweet boy. i love him.
6. we had an awesome sushi party recently (more like a month ago)-- i think we fed about 15 people and everyone learned to roll their own sushi rolls. so much fun! i love hosting cooking parties..and just parties in general.
7. the boys (HillBenders) are still continuing to do really well and turn lots of heads. they go to Canada next week! Canada!! Canada loves bluegrass.
8. the girls bought me a trip home for my birthday and we chose for me to come home Labor Day. I'm really excited... only about 2 weeks until then!!!! i can't believe that it's been almost a year since I saw them. Last time was at Chelsea's wedding which was October.
9. I told you last time that i got a bike from a friend... i rode it 2 miles "across town" to Missy's a month or so ago. i was scared because i still don't have a helmet and I'm nervous of the cars but it was fun! i feel inspired to ride more.. and then i got a hole in my tire. tire is fixed now... just need to get back in the saddle.
Ok i can't think of much today and there isn't much happening to tell in life lately. I'll try and update more.. I promise (wink wink).
hope to see you soon when i come labor day Sept 3-6 is my scheduled trip.

I know I haven't blogged in a while so let me just make a list of happenings and such going on with me and us and stuff :)
1. while I was in Colorado every apricot in my tree fell and rotted and now I have every fly in the state of Missouri living, flying, buzzing, laying eggs in my backyard. tonight i will try and conquer this and my fear of bugs in mass quantities.
2. i went to paradise last week... telluride colorado. i can't wait to some day live in colorado. hopefully that's sooner than later :)
3. I GOT TO MEET LYLE LOVETT!!! I couldn't believe my dream came true. He played a really awesome show in Colorado and then I stalked him out and made friends. or at least now i'm going to claim us besties and even put him on my christmas card list. probably a bad idea for me to know his address though really.
4. 3 of my best gals are having babies! one literally is today. hope everything goes well for you Lissa and can't wait to see miss Mailey. Chels is about 11 and 1/2 weeks and Raesha is maybe 7 0r 8 months along. she's having a girl too!
5. my other good friend Staci is getting married this weekend! so excited for her and Dustin and them combining their lives and families. such good people and awesome friends! wish I could be there guys, love yall!
6. my birthday is in just a few weeks.... just sayin
7. we planted a huge ass (sorry mom) garden! we are growing corn, green beans, squash, zuchinni, cucumbers, okra, basil, cilantro and i think another kind of herb but can't remember which kind (don't worry it's not illegal). also we have lots of tomato plants, jalepenos, cerranos and i think another maybe yellow pepper or something. i've been on watering duty since nolan's been gone. don't tell him i forgot to water yesterday because i didn't want to fight fly-mania. the garden makes us feel all hippy like and earthy. it's fun! can't wait to start eating some of those good veggies!
8. the band has been on the road since june 10... they won't return until late saturday night. 16 days is too long to be without my bird. although really i got to see him in the middle when i met them out in CO.
9. i want to be just like this woman http://www.thepioneerwoman.com/ when i grow up.... minus all of those kids of course.
10. i miss my neices and nephew. it's weird that i haven't seen them since Christmas.
11. i'm taking a photography class. hoping i can get out this office building someday soon and do something i love dearly
12. i'm so proud of the hillbenders. not only did they earn another championship (2010 national single mic champions) but they've been packing venues all over the country the last couple of weeks and much more success to come their way!
13. my foot is asleep from sitting indian style in my office chair. how professional.
14. our friend loaned us bicycles to start riding. i need a helmet... obviously.
15. the humidity outside is unbearable. excited for our 4th of july annual float trip (their 9th, my 2nd) with our friends around here next weekend. it's the only way to cure the heat.
ok i must get back to work while i daydream of mountains and my bearded bird. haha the though of a bird with a beard (not like a turkey but like a manly beard) is really funny.
love yall
